Hart Road Picture Framing in Beaverton has joined CRN's CARE For Kids Program! When you mention this promotion, 50% of your framing purchase will be donated to Children's Relief Nursery to help families in crisis.
When Alice Green called the Volunteer Coordinator at Children’s Relief Nursery, her request was simple: Women of Vision wants to do more than send money.
For years, Women of Vision has sponsored Children’s Relief Nursery. They built the Clothes Closet that contains clothes, shoes and other supplies for the families we serve.
They have donated tens of thousands of dollars to provide funds for family emergencies like food, eyeglasses, cleaning products, diapers and utilities. Several members have been longtime volunteers in the Therapeutic Classrooms.
But the general membership felt they didn’t get enough opportunity to directly impact the women and children at the Relief Nursery.
So Alice met with Liz Clark, the volunteer coordinator at CRN, and together they dreamed up a “Parent Pampering Day.” Parents would receive free childcare, a lovely lunch, and free services. Women of Vision would provide the volunteers, and CRN would provide transportation and oversee the childcare.
It all came together on May 31. Mothers being served by the Nursery were treated to a haircuts, massages, manicures and makovers, as well as good conversation over the great food brought by Women of Vision. More than a dozen WOV members provided child care and acted as hostesses throughout the day.
One Mom insisted on leaving with a hug, saying “Thank you so much! I never get time just for me, this was so nice. I feel great!” |
