2009 Portland's Original Iron Chef
Last year's culinary battle had Adam Sappington, The Country Cat, the 2008 People's Choice Award Winner, teamed up with wife and Pastry Chef Jackie Sappington to go head-to-head with the 2008 Iron Chef reigning champ David Anderson, Vindalho (now with Genoa), and his twin brother Ray Anderson.

Each chef had to gather their ingredients from the different tables around Kitchen Stadium in addition to using the secret ingredient, mustard!

Anderson prepared poached halibut roulade with mustard green pesto, celery root and mustard seed curry with whole grain mustard vinegar. Sappington’s dish, stewed leeks in a mustard broth with preserved lemon favette pasta, manila clams and prosciutto cracklings, reigned supreme at the end of the competition earning Sappington the title of 2009 Portland’s Original Iron Chef!

Chef Andrew Garrett, Cafe Nell, walked away with the 2009 People's Choice Chef Title over Chef/Co-Owner Cameron Addy, Belly, and Executive Chef Thomas Dunklin, Red Star Tavern.
