Community Partnerships

CRN works with the following programs to remain current in our field and to maintain partnerships with reputable organizations that have congruent missions.

Children’s Institute

Children’s Institute (CI) is an independent, nonprofit, research-driven action organization that stimulates dialogue and collaborative action to ensure the greatest return on investment for Oregon’s disadvantaged children. CI mentioned the Relief Nursery model in their publication “Oregon’s Starting Five” as one of the five most important programs offering support to children in need. Learn more.

National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN)


The mission of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network is to raise the standard of care and improve access to services for traumatized children, their families, and communities throughout the United States. CRN is a NCTSN affiliate site with involvement in the 0-6 Early Childhood Work Group and the Child-Parent Psychotherapy Learning Collaborative. Learn more

Portland Children’s Levy

The Portland Children’s Levy was created by city voters in 2002 and overwhelmingly renewed in Fall 2008 for an additional five years. It funds 70 different programs for kids ages birth through high school and an additional 10 programs through their Leverage Fund. Organizations receive funding through a competitive process and must have a track record of success. They must be cost effective and achieve positive results for children. All funded programs are monitored by staff and are subject to regular site visits and performance assessments. A five-member Allocation Committee meets publicly to make funding decisions. Portland State University: Infant/Toddler Mental Health Graduate Certificate

The graduate certificate in Infant/Toddler Mental Health: A Relationship-based Approach is designed for professionals who are working with families who have children from the prenatal period to 36 months of age. This program is appropriate for professionals who are mental health, special education, child welfare, and social service providers; home visitors; teachers; child-care providers; and health care professionals. It is also appropriate for supervisors of these direct-service providers. CRN provides field placements for interns and is a member of the Oregon Infant-Toddler Mental Health Association. Portland State University: School of Social Work

The Master of Social Work (MSW) degree program is designed to prepare graduates for entry into advanced professional practice in Social Work. This program is the only graduate-level Social Work program in Oregon accredited by the National Council on Social Work Education. CRN provides internship placements to students in the PSU MSW program. Learn more.

Zero to Three

Zero to Three is a national, nonprofit organization that informs, trains, and supports professionals, policymakers, and parents in their efforts to improve the lives of infants and toddlers. Their mission is to promote the health and development of infants and toddlers. CRN uses Zero to Three publications and materials in staff trainings and to develop of community training materials.
